How to do a centralized software update?

Good day. There is an idea: to update the software in the local network centrally. Something like WSUS, but for programs. What can be used for this? What services can be raised? I tried wpkg, which is not very convenient to set up, plus you need to configure software packages for each workplace and, in fact, manually register the entire update process for each application, etc., there are many minuses. Do not offer WSUS itself, since it requires CALs.

it is necessary to configure software packages for each workplace and, in fact, manually register the entire update process for each application, etc.

Do you want apps without the auto-update feature to know how to update themselves?
It will only work if someone has done all the packages and settings before you.
Try Chocolatey
In the main gallery there are many prepared packages for programs like archivers, browsers, etc.
You can add your source from the file server, where the packages you prepared will be located.
Upgrading everything installed via chocolatey on a machine with a single command choco upgrade all

Most likely applications will be like Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, Adobe Reader, etc., which support the ability to upgrade by installing on top of an existing installation.
