How to disable url with multiple slashes in htaccess?

There is a working url like www.site.ru/group////group/item , which should not be. Google gave out that merge_slashes is responsible for this. Since the project is on a regular hosting, there is no way to configure Nginx. How to disable these few slashes in htaccess?

nginx doesn't work with .htaccess. Everything is defined in config.
