Stop the Server service -- the SMB server will fall off. There are no jambs, but you need to understand that you will not be able to share folders. It does not interfere with using shared folders on other machines.
If you need to disable the SMB client too, disable the "Microsoft Networks Client" and "File and Printer Sharing Service" in the properties of the network adapter, and also turn off the Server and "Workstation" services.
