How to disable HDD?
Parents have a separate old PC, they usually watch mainly video information on it. The problem is that while the video is running, this hard drive makes a very nasty sound, close to ultrasound (as children used to turn on mobile phones, if anyone remembers), but parents simply do not hear it. For me, this is unbearable torture, very annoying, but they don’t respond to requests to change the screw - from their point of view, nothing squeaks, etc., etc. So the only way to get rid of it is to break it. So, how can a screw be disabled by software or hardware without visible damage?

Buy your parents a new screw that will be bigger and better. If you can not buy because there is no money - do not engage in sabotage.
In general, there is a chance that it is not the screw that squeaks, but the motherboard or the PSU.
Buy them an SSD and copy the information from the screw to it, replace the device, and give the screw to someone.
It's usually not a screw that squeaks, I advise you to conduct an experiment - turn off the speakers and in general everything that can make sounds, if the squeak disappears under the same conditions, then the problem is in the drivers for the sound card. If it doesn't help, the only part that can make a high-frequency squeak is the power supply. Burning the HDD won't help anything.
in theory, if you buy a new winch and clone the old winch on it with something Acronis, then the parents will not notice the difference.
Put it in the microwave =)
In general, should you see a doctor about strange noises? =)
