How to develop in web development?

In general, I have a great desire to develop in web development, my priority is to work in a company, and in my dreams to create my own startup. About half a year ago I began to learn html / css, then I began to learn php while practicing with css, then, of course, I began to get acquainted with MySQL, set myself a lamp server, found a mentor (mentor) who helps me a lot. Everything is fine with theory, but as often happens with practice, it is weaker. Despite the fact that absolutely every day I spend an average of 4 hours on programming, I notice that I often get lost in how to develop correctly, how to teach correctly and what to learn. In terms of practice, I'm trying to write my mail system, recently I wrote a simple MVC structure with a mentor. Let me rephrase the question, how to develop in web development and how to practice correctly ? , because no matter how I look, someone says: " You need to learn CMS and then you will have money. You need to learn algorithms, you need to become a real geek in server technologies ." Friends, I'm waiting and will take into account any advice, I hope they will help me. PS I teach programming not for the sake of money, but because I like it :)

I teach programming not for the sake of money, but because I like it :)

"I make a priority to work in a company, well, in my dreams to create my own startup" And say that it’s not for the sake of money;)
Don’t bother, practice for this and practice is hard to go, there are no miraculous recipes.
We started writing "I'm trying to write my own mail system", so write, if I understand correctly what exactly you are writing, then peep at the implementation of some functionality in the same roundcube/
And in general, the whole github will help you - there you will find inspiration and examples.
Well, and most importantly, do not try to follow in the footsteps of others, good things never came out of this in history :)

develop in web development

It's not related to each other. In the first case, you need to be a programmer, and in the second - a leader.
I can give you a direction in which you can develop, and which will definitely give you a lot of experience even if you don't work in it later: Symfony.
You need to learn CMS and then you will have money
Will not. This area is poorly paid.
