How to delete a non-existent vmware virtual machine disk?

The situation is as follows, one friend accidentally attached a virtual hard disk to the virtual machine twice, as a result, he received one extra one, without hesitation deleted the vmdk file of the second disk in the datastore.
Now, when you try to disconnect the second disk in the settings, the vm throws an error, the file was not found, and when you try to do any operations with the disks, the process is busy error.

the car was auxiliary, no backups were made.

@DotDash

In the .vmx file, look at the lines
ide0:0.present = "TRUE"
ide0:0.fileName = "<disk name>"
or ide0:1 (depending on how the disk was mounted)
and write FALSE
