How to correctly use whois in the terminal?

Dear community!
I use macos and zsh, I often have to look up whois information about a domain, I like to do it through zsh, but some domains cannot be looked up
, for example:

➜ ~ whois dot.ph
whois: ph.whois-servers.net: nodename nor servname provided, or not known

With what parameters is it correct to run whois so that it always gives information on the required zone?
