How to correctly connect an existing git repository of Visual Studio Code to avoid a key verification error?

Until today, I have been using GitKraken to work with Git. In parallel, I regularly use Visual Studio Code, which already has its own git manager out of the box. The problem is that I can't get it to work in any way. I form a commit, try to push it, and I get the following error:

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.
git fetch
Host key verification failed.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

I have access rights, and the repository exists (located on bitbuket). Everything works fine if I push through Gitkraken, which I wrote about above. What could be the problem?
