How to copy / backup files in real time?

Suggest some free console (daemon best) tools for ubuntu/debian that can copy (for backup purposes) files in a specified directory in real time (or with minimal delay) from one server to another.
With support for symlinks and preferably with the ability to set various exceptions (for example, do not copy files with the log extension)
