How to connect an external video card to a laptop?

Good day to all!
I want to connect an external GeForce RTX 2070 Super video card to the ASUS N580GD laptop to play modern games.
But I don't know which way to choose. Connecting through an external box or through a riser? EXP GDC? The external box works via the Thunderbolt 3 interface, and the EXP GDC via mini pci-e. Which interface has more bandwidth?
Connecting via EXP GDC is a more budget solution.
If you choose to connect via an external box, then you can do without an external monitor, i. to display the image on the laptop screen?
Thunderbolt 3 has a bandwidth of 40 Gbps. Is this speed enough for the GeForce RTX 2070 Super graphics card? Or what is the maximum graphics card I can count on?
