How to configure wifi adapter Realtek RTL8192CE in ProxMox (Debian)?

Situation:
There is a device with a built-in RTL8192CE wifi, which is shown through lsmod as:
Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Problem:
Getting this adapter to work on proxmox-ve_3.2-5a885216-5.iso
Hint:
Proxmox has its own pve-firmware driver package that conflicts with required firmware-realtek.
Although somehow they both managed to get up, but the Wi-Fi did not work.
The output of 'ip a' does not contain a word about wifi.
iwconfig also writes no wireless.
'modprobe rtl8192ce' says fatal: module rtl8192ce not found.
A bunch of other "recipes" from Google do not bring results, push in the right direction!

@konchober

'dmesg | grep rtl' outputs:
r8169 0000:04:00.0: firmware: requesting rtl_nic/rtl8168g-1.fw
r8169 0000:04:00.0: eth0: unable to load firmware patch rtl_nic/rtl8168g-1.fw (-2)
it looks like built-in ethernet adapter that works successfully out of the box.
