How to compile Linux Kernel on Renesas SH7264 processor?

There is a board on the Renesas SH7264 microcontroller with an LCD display. Flash - external, RAM - external. Renesas has its own architecture, there are examples only for processors with internal flash and RAM. Apparently, you will have to write drivers from scratch (almost). You need to put Linux on it.
What to read for a noob who has not compiled the kernel before?

@RicoX

What's wrong with ready -made options? Well, if you want your own, then only cross-compilation of the kernel.
