Linux without swap - crashing flashplayer loves HDD (linux virtual memory subsystem) for a long time?

Problem. Curve flash player flows and at the same time the entire desktop is cancerous and crunches hard drive for 5-10 minutes. It is impossible to see what is happening at this time. I want to understand what is happening and how to deal with it. With that in mind, a few questions:

  1. If SWAP is disabled - can the linux virtual memory subsystem write anything to disk trying to solve the lack of RAM?
  2. What other subsystems can be to blame for the fact that 1 user process hangs the entire system?
  3. Is it possible to overcome this with any system settings?

@phasma

make at least a couple of GB of swap, he will be able to fork your console and see what happens.
