How to collect data on available PCs and their operating system?

Hello . I work in a small office with about 30 PCs, but because became a lot of computers thinking about the domain system. But for a domain system on Windows, there should be, as far as I know, an OS with a domain function. And we get a whole zoo from XP to windows 10, etc. Saved on everything, most of them have pre-installed Windows and without the domain function. The question arose of how many such computers we have on which Windows are installed without the domain function ... I think there is such a program that, for example, is installed on one PC and collects information about all PCs in the local network and so you can find out which Windows is where it costs and determine how much machines need to buy an OS.

Since you do not have a domain (and this is a shared access to computers), you will have to carry out some actions with each computer. Go around them and write down the necessary data.

If you decide to enter a domain, then I don’t see any problems entering it, and only then collect the information of interest (plus homes, etc. editions will be revealed at the time of entering the domain). If you want to conduct an inventory to estimate the cost of upgrading the OS of the current infrastructure, in order to find out the cost of such an implementation - then, as Konstantin Tsvetkov wrote , you need to go through and manually collect the data. Especially for your number of computers, this is half an hour or an hour of time))
PS XP - such an OS for microsoft no longer exists))

Gathering information in the working group
There is a client program, it collects information. In the working group, it’s hard to think of something else, otherwise all the information will be collected about both hardware and software ...

You need a machine to set up a Windows server on it, which will be your domain controller. And all your machines, even XP, even a dozen, are easily driven into the domain and you don’t need to buy anything for them.
