How to close all running applications in ubuntu?

In Windows, I found the close all utility, which closed all running applications. Since I work with several desktops, it is very difficult to run to each of the bottom and close running programs.
Is there an analogue in ubuntu to close all applications in one fell swoop and immediately cut down the computer?

Shut down the computer: sudo shutdown -h now
