How to clear macOS archives?
Recently (~3 months) I use MacBook Air. Inside 128GB SSD, which I actually have enough for everything and more than half remain. But I have a paranoid feeling that the free space is disappearing somewhere. Despite the fact that I especially often do not record / download anything.
And now I went to the "Storage" tab, and I see that some archives occupy 44 gigs!
How to clean them up? And what is it anyway?
UPD: As a result, it turned out that these archives are nothing more than TimeMashine backups.
I just don't understand one thing. Why are they stored on a local drive, if I specifically chose an external one in the settings, and always made backups to it?

I'll try to assume that this is a backup for TimeMachine. If you have a TimeCapsule or just an external screw, then attach it and the archives will be poured onto it. If not, try just turning it off in the TimeMachine settings - there is an on / off slider.
