How to choose Linux for your computer configuration?
Hello, I have a laptop Toshiba 5105 s501 configuration 1.6 Ghz processor 512 MB RAM hdd 40 Gb. Please advise the Linux distribution for my hardware? Also, in order to be able to deploy a zabbix server on it , it will analyze a couple of servers - simple commands, ping every five minutes, checking for server health, their load, if errors are sent, then send letters. I will be very grateful!

Ubuntu Server 14.04, Debian Jessie and CentOS 7
are up to date. Do not install GUI and red-eyed distributions.
I like CentOS 6.7. In the configuration minimal) Zabbix is just spinning on it.
Your computer is enough for any Linux.
Developers of most telecommunications public projects (Asterisk, OpenSer, FreeSWITCH, YATE, ...) use RPM distributions as the base for their projects ... among them: RedHat, CentOS, Fedora, Scientific, ...
See Fedora, RedHat, Centos...
yes any without guiny.
If you want extreme sports, install Genta. A couple of days will be put, but then work faster. How much faster in percentage I will not tell.
