How to choose a webcam and is it worth choosing at all?

I like augmented reality, I want to buy a webcam for my laptop (despite the fact that there is no built-in one), should I choose or take any? Is there a noticeable difference in performance? By what criteria to judge and can you advise which model, in your opinion, is better to take?

Of course you need to choose, because the difference in the picture is huge. Sensors in cameras differ in resolution, speed, color reproduction. It is also quite important which codec is used to compress the video stream. Of the additional options, you should pay attention to the presence and quality of the microphone, as well as the camera mounting mechanism. Of course, you can still look at the optics, but I'm afraid it really differs only in expensive models.
Unfortunately, I won’t recommend a specific model, but according to the characteristics, it’s worth taking a camera with at least FullHD (1920 * 1080) resolution and 30 frames per second, otherwise be guided by reviews for a specific product and your Wishlist (for AR, the higher the hardness, the better). Personally, I've mostly sold Logitech cameras to customers from the business line, they have a good picture quality / price ratio and warranty, but you might want to look for even better.

I use Logitech B525 at work and I am completely satisfied, I see marks from Vuforia for several meters, autofocus, good frame rate, mount on top of the monitor + just connected to the computer, and Unity saw it immediately without any problems.
