How to choose a stepper motor driver?

I want to assemble a simple CNC machine, I chose NEMA 17, there will be 2 engines. Does it turn out that each needs its own driver, or a two-channel driver? Tell me which / which drivers to take, and how to connect an arduino, please.

I use ready-made modules on l298, it’s not a machine, but IMHO there is enough power

For NEMA 17, the A4988 with DIR - STEP control is excellent. Of which the brothers - the Chinese heaps. Yes, and in any online store selling goods for 3D printing, too.
