How to choose a ready-made blog engine for embedding a site?

There is a website and there is a desire to attach to it the ability to quickly publish small articles. What you need:
- a visual text editor
- it is desirable to store articles in a database (MySQL)
- PHP
- simplicity and austerity is welcome
Or is the surest way - to do it yourself (I'm leaning towards this)?

In this case, it would be best to finish it yourself. There you just need one table + WYSIWYG editor like TinyMCE, CKEdtiror. Work for an hour or two.
As for embedding other (mini) engines, this is not necessary in this situation. CRUD operations on one table are not worth it.

Use DLE (Data Life Engine), I used this engine for 4 years and kept the site for such needs.
1. There is a regular BBCode and TyneMCE, CKEdtiror.
2. Automatic tag and descriptor generation.
3. And everything that you described is present there.
Very handy engine and easy to use.
