How to choose a multimeter?

Gentlemen, I want to buy myself an indispensable tool - a multimeter for long-term use. Advise which one you can take - an average price and more reliable.

It depends on what kind of "long use" ... If over the next fifteen years you measure the voltage in the outlet 10 times and ring a suspicious fuse 5 times, then any Chinese thing for a couple of dozen raccoons will do.
And if for regular serious work, then there is, in principle, FLUKE (and maybe Agilent too ) ... and everything else :) A decent multimeter (unless we are talking about a portable, and not a desktop device) costs a couple of hundred dollars . In any case, it is desirable to have a device with a so-called. true RMS , such as Fluke 117, Fluke 17B, Fluke 87, Fluke 289.
If the budget does not allow you to take something normal (or there is no need), then the Chinese remain, such as the same Vichi, UNI-T, etc... however, do not expect miracles- for a couple of dozen raccoons there is no the same quality as for a couple of hundred :)

Vichi VC97 . Great multimeter, I've been using it for over a year. The functionality is huge (there is even a thermocouple in the kit). Only current clamps are missing, but with them the price tag is usually an order of magnitude higher. There are about a thousand
on Chinese sites . If you choose a multimeter on a Chinese site, I advise you to immediately order nozzles for probes - crocodiles or hooks (such as these ).
