For me, it's just one moment. Pay attention to delays without warning. Any. I did not get in touch at the agreed time - immediately leave, as harshly as possible and look for another artist. You can do this - save your money and nerves. There are no situations where this cannot be warned in advance. The game of "phone broke / Windows flew / hamster got sick" shows the complete incompetence of the performer and the unavailability of freelance work.

In terms of search, the only thing that can be advised is to develop your communication skills - popular methods like checking if there are X works in the portfolio, in fact, do nothing (even probably weed out a lot of good people).
