How to choose a design for a startup?

This is probably a common problem, what do startups do with design at the very beginning?
When is the rawest version of a web project posted and feedback started?
Two answers are obvious - buy an open template if it can fit (this is probably still rare), or buy an already normal design (but this is far from always suitable).
There is also a third - try to find a partner or promise an option. But what if I'm an adherent of the Pareto rule and MVP? And you need to get feedback and evaluate the prospects of the idea at minimal cost in order to decide whether to develop the idea or not?
What are the best practices in solving this problem?

Well, I suppose since the question sounds like that, then the startup is not related to design as such. So use two options: academic style or framework. Get bootstrap and run your site on it. It will look decent and without cheating that you tried. And even better - honestly write in the footer - the bootstrap framework is used. Personally, this would convince me that you focused on the main idea, and not on attracting users with cheap tricks.

I’ll tell you a secret: even if you develop the right startup, but buy a template (i.e. don’t order, but buy a ready-made one), the project may stall before it starts. Much depends on the quality of design and engineering that must precede development.

So, make your own design. No one will partner, there are a lot of such proposals from those who know how to do it well.

My opinion it all depends on what is above all in a startup, if you have an idea like a super verification service, is there a photoshop on the photo or not (something that gives you opportunities that were not), then the design is not important.
In general, for a startup, you need to make the most simple design that first of all shows the idea, and then everything else.
So the option with a normal template is just right!

The best practice is to buy a ready-made template or design on themeforest and finish it with a file to suit your needs.
It is absolutely not worth giving a share for design.
