How to choose a CMS for a learning platform (student-teacher)?

Task:
There is a technical specification for the site - a learning platform. There should be a virtual "class", where each user-student has his own profile (authorization) and personal account, to which the user-teacher sends information (it is desirable that it is not in the public domain). The information is mostly textual + widgets (YouTube, Soundcloud, etc.). Plus, it should be possible to fill the site itself (articles, schedule) with several people (administrators with different access rights, several teachers).
I have not worked with the backend before, but there is a great desire to delve into the matter. There was a question about the choice of CMS. Offhand, Google advises Drupal/ModX, but the explanation of the choice is too vague and ambiguous for such a project. Need help from experienced backers

You do not need a CMS, but a programmer. This is if it's good.
In general, you can look at CodeCanyon .
For example Academy - Course Based Learning Management System

In my opinion, wordpress is better. There are many ready-made plugins out there, let it fit for a lot of things.
It will be hard to figure it out on your own. It will be necessary to learn php and this cms well in order to make this platform.
On kraynyak it is possible - Modx.
PS And first learn a more or less server language (php or another), and then think for cms.
