How to catch the event that the video cannot be played?

On the iPhone in Safari, in low battery mode, the video can only be launched by directly clicking on the controls of its interface.
In normal mode, however, the video plays as a background image without any problems.
How to catch the event that the video is not playing precisely because of the low power mode in order to trigger the fallback?
