How to cast a desktop (not a video file) from Windows to a TV over a network using built-in tools or VLC?

Previously, somehow in the context menu of the explorer there were 2 sub-items "Transfer to device": one used the built-in player, the second - VLC. When I selected an item with VLC, the entire desktop was broadcast - it was very convenient. After reinstalling the system, I can not remember how it was implemented. Please advise)

Or does anyone know how to broadcast the desktop over a local network to a TV

@vabka

On Windows 10/11 there is miracast.
You can call its settings with a combination of win + K.
You can broadcast the entire desktop.
