How to calculate the volume of a 3D model?

We were asked to implement the calculation of the volume of the loaded 3D model on the site. (usually a model in stl format)
I have never worked with 3D (modeled, but a little bit of my own, so it doesn’t count), and I have no idea how to work with stl format.
Maybe there are ready-made frameworks, libraries on js (php?) for working with 3D models?
