Personally, I used the cheat:
1. Installed wine 8 from the msdn image
2. Downloaded Upgrade assistance.
3. Set it to compatibility mode with xp and run it.
4. Entered the card details, received the key, closed Upgrade assistance (after purchase, it starts downloading Windows 8)
5. Deleted the existing key and rebooted.
6. In the activation menu, I indicated a freshly purchased key.
