How to build a computer network of terminals under the Ulmart \ Technopoint type?

In these stores there are terminal networks,
Terminal = Computer (Monoblock) \ keyboard \ mouse .. There are about 50 such terminals in the store, and so:
What software is used at the stations ?
How to set up so that only the browser with the desired site is available at startup ?
What iron is usually selected for such needs ?
Do you need a powerful server ?
Ps I would like to make something like a training class where you can create questionnaires, conduct training, conferences.

someone turned down about 4 gigabytes, well, then let's get 8 in general.
To be honest, what things are needed:
1. This piece of iron can boot over the network, has ethernet.
2. Has a video card and a monitor for display
3. Has a mouse and keyboard for input
In Yulmart, everything is on Linux, before you could even close all the tabs and you could see how the X-session restarted (such was the crutch for this case)
The most normal thing is not to buy any heresy like (thinstation in kiosk mode or wtware can also do this), but to assemble your own distribution, which will be loaded by pxe or gpxe, and contain a minimum (dhc client, X (see some de lightweight, which will immediately launch firefox and nothing else) and contain CUPS to send a receipt for printing on another CUPS server, or, as done in Walmart, to the nearest printer)

For local stations, the Raspberry Pi with an operating system prepared for use as a thin client is quite suitable by the way.
Convenient and very inexpensive. Approximately 5000 costs a box assembly, an OS under the GNU GPL or whichever one you choose, there are a lot of operating system options for this platform, including support for Windows 10 Iot.
The solution was checked, there were no complaints in the client part.
The server part for 50 users depends on whether you will do it in the Windows terminal mode, Vmware stations, or just connect to the server to work with the browser.

Come and have a look. Technopoint is definitely something on Linux. And a regular browser.
Ideally, you can even make a download over the network so as not to install anything.
Search the Internet for the phrase "browser in kiosk-mode".
Some browsers do this out of the box.
Some need help in the form of scripts on the operating system.
Go to the Technopoit and read the name of the iron.
At us they use cheap monoblocks.
Ideally, it can even be done even on the basis of a computer without a hard disk and booting over the network so as not to install anything.
No. The browser is running locally.
It's a normal web server. Moreover, it seems that the same one that is available from the outside.
Yes, such an ideology is suitable.

There is a wonderful free thing - porteus kiosk. I would try to do it on her. Minimum hardware requirements, if only the browser could start.
You can limit the launch to one site in full screen mode, you can use a network or local printer.
