There are 5 computers with Windows on board (windows 7 pro) and 1 windows server 2003 and a separate server with a good hard drive where you need to backup some folders from these computers every night. Which axis is better to put on a server for copies? and how to back up by cron? all computers and a server in one local area but nothing more (no domain or workgroup was configured as unnecessary), but each camp has a user login and password to enter (data is available)

Backup is more convenient to perform using standard windows backup mechanisms.
You can install any OS capable of working with files on the file server - windows, linux.
Set the one that is more convenient for you.
