How to argue for lack of guarantees in SEO?

Tell me, how would you justify such a position?
The customer wants me, as a performer, to compensate him for the traffic at my own expense after the SEO work, if the monthly indicators are not reached (conditionally 1000 people a day), by attracting the missing number of visitors through Direct. I understand that these risks are created not by me, but by the market (in this case, by Yandex algorithms), and I refuse any compensation whatsoever. Traffic figures are purely calculated. But he stands his ground, believing that it is my task as a specialist to provide a certain level of traffic.
How would you argue your position in this case? Have you had similar situations? Is it correct to cite outdoor advertising as an example, drawing an analogy of "SEO-work" - "placement on billboards ONLY" - "the absence of guarantees for attendance / views / returns in both cases"?

And why are you then needed if you do not give guarantees?
If you say that there will be 1k visitors, then fulfill your obligations. And it is logical that I want compensation otherwise.
Without guarantees, I myself can advertise in direct for the amount that I would pay you and get a return faster and with guarantees.

Well, for example, the classic version:
Seoshnik: We need to place this text on the site, search engines will love us for it
Customer: What??? This nonsense will hang on our website. Never!
Seoshnik: Well, then what guarantees can there be if my recommendations are not followed.
Another option:
Cunning SEOs often make a contract like "We undertake to promote the site for at least 70% of the keywords specified in the contract." In fact, most of the words are low-frequency slag, and the remaining 30% are just those competitive words that it would make sense to move
on.

you do not need to subscribe to absolute indicators,
if there is no other way - subscribe at least to relative ones

Prepared abstracts, maybe someone will come in handy.
1. All guarantees in SEO are a myth due to the unpredictability of the actions of a "third party" - in this case, Yandex algorithms. No one can influence the issuance directly. Therefore, the only guarantee that can be given by the contractor is the guarantee that the planned SEO work will be carried out.
2. Drawing an analogy , we pay a lawyer for preparing materials and defending our interests in court, but a lawyer is not able to guarantee a successful outcome of the case, because. it depends on the panel of judges, not on him. This is logical. In SEO, the situation is 100% identical. We convince Yandex that the site deserves the highest rating, but the search engine has the final say.
3. Compensationfor failure to reach positions cannot be included in the contract, since the contractor is not responsible for the final result of the work performed (for the reasons mentioned above). If he does not give guarantees for the result, then there is not a single reason for him to pay compensation for not achieving it.
4. Advertising in search engines, incl. SEO is a high risk investment just like any other form of advertising. This risk cannot be removed from the chain of interaction, it is systemic in nature.

Do you negotiate traffic? Well, Christmas trees, if you see that it doesn’t work out in any way, catch up with traffic for him, business))
Strictly fix the client’s obligations. For example, making sent edits within 3 days. Did not have time - minus 50% of the promised traffic. If he requires guarantees from you, demand them from him.
