How to add USB 3.x to a laptop that only has 2.0? Does it make any practical sense?
I plan to add USB 3.x support to my old 2012 laptop. Is it possible in principle? If yes, what are the best ways to connect? For example, Mini PCI-E, etc. The laptop is still subdivided, it's not scary if it's a collective farm. Preferably on a budget.

Well, theoretically, yes, take the Mini-PCI-E riser into a regular PCI-E slot, stick a USB3 controller there, supply an external 12 volt power supply to it - and you're done.
The speed should be on par, since PCI-E 2x to USB 3 should be enough
