How to add template to custom post types?

Made an arbitrary type of records. Created template <?php /* Template Name: Schedule template */ ?>. And it doesn't see it. How to add a template to custom post types?

The template is only for posts of the hierarchical type (type - pages) for posts tied to taxonomies (type - post) it does not work, the single-{post_type}.php template works for their output
