How to add hover effect when selecting URLhash in OWL Carousel 2?

The crux of the matter, there is a menu with links. Links are the anchors of Owl-items, when clicked, they select the desired slider. Hovering over any owl-item creates a hover effect.
When you click on a link in the menu, it scrolls to the carousel section and selects the same item as in the menu.
For example: "MENU" - menu1, menu2, menu3., Carousel owl-item #menu1 .......etc.
I’m sitting here scratching my head on how to implement the hover effect of owl-item, in fact, when clicking on the URLhash. I think even if you implement the hover effect, if for example the user hover over the next item, then the hover will work on it as well???
