How to add correct patches for Plasmafox assembly?

I have experience building simple DEB packages. Now I want to try building Plasmafox and kplasmafoxhelper . And I understand that it will not be enough to put the files in the debian/patches folder? I would be grateful for detailed tips on assembly and nuances.
