How to add a directory with files to a Visual Studio project?

When you add a directory to a Visual Studio 2015 project from a disk containing a file structure, the directory itself is added, but the files are not. You have to turn on the display of all files in the project, exclude the directory from the project and include it in the project again, then the structure of files and subdirectories appears in the project. Is there any way to solve this problem so that it is like in previous versions of Visual Studio?
