Can I just write the word Copyright (c) and that's it?
If so, where should this text be placed?
If not, how do you get it?

If we are talking about licensing your code under the MIT license, then just indicate this in the readme or attach a license file with the text taken from here .

Host the project on public Git services. So that enterprising guys do not appropriate. That would be some sort of proof.
