How secure is vnc?

How secure is vnc. I am using tightvnc. Is it possible to intercept the traffic and see what is happening on the display, or intercept the password?

Of course you can.
To eliminate this possibility, encryption is used. In general, in all implementations of this protocol known to me, there is encryption.

If the question is serious, then VNC must be run inside the VPN. And VPN d.b. with open source.
