How secure is macOS really?

Until recently, I believed that macOS of almost any version is as secure as possible. But now there is information about a zero-day vulnerability ( CVE-2017-7150 ), which allows you to bypass a large number of OS protection mechanisms.
It was discovered, by the way, by an ex-NSA employee who did not exploit the vulnerability himself .
But perhaps this is not the only such problem? What other vulnerabilities are there in macOS and how can you protect yourself from them?

The more popular the system, the more known holes in it.
MacOS was once useless compared to Windows. Therefore, there were few known holes. But they were and always will be in any system.

Absolute security does not exist, vulnerabilities are always and everywhere, of course, the problem is not the only one:
MacOS X
All apple products
You can protect yourself with a set of compensation measures when you understand what and from what you are protecting.

If vulnerabilities are found, Apple quickly fixes them. This vulnerability is from 10/22/2017, Apple included its fix in updates long ago.
There will be no absolute protection if you do not stop using devices. Have you heard anything about processor vulnerabilities (Meltdown, Specter)? Here, Apple is also one of the first to patch them at the OS level.
So, you should not worry about the security of operating systems (including macOS) from an apple
