How popular is WPF with its XAML or is it better to look towards ASP.NET MVC?

Good afternoon!
Dear, express your opinion on this issue. Is it worth it to understand WPF and its intricacies, including XAML, etc.? or all the same, the best at the moment from Microsoft is ASP.NET MVC, meaning it is in demand both for full-time and freelancing. Plus, as I understand it, everything is moving towards open source.
Thank you

ASP.NET MVC seems to me more in demand, but again, different areas of application, one does not replace the other.

XAML is a modern UI for desktop applications and modern marketplace applications. It's worth checking it out if you're interested. There is enough work, in my opinion even more than on Asp.Net MVC.

ASP.NET MVC is a much more promising technology, it is constantly and rapidly developing, WPF slows down in this regard, we can say that after .NET 4.0 it practically does not develop with minimal additions. Therefore, I would look towards ASP.NET MVC

I also think that nothing threatens him for the next 5 years. I vaguely imagine that corporate and professional software would suddenly take over and move to the WinRT model or now Windows Universal Apps. These two are more for the consumer market with an appropriate distribution model. Applications of this kind are more likely to be designed for consuming content rather than processing or creating it. After the release of Windows 10, this is unlikely to change, even if all the masses begin to switch to it. We have an active project for a corporate customer in our company, so it is generally written in WinForms and works great.
