How often is the secondary disk accessed?

My computer has 2 hard drives, primary ssd, secondary hdd. I hardly use Hdd, but important information is stored on it. Windows installed naturally on ssd.
1) How often does the system access the Hdd disk? and does it apply at all?
2) This Hdd has a bad smart, can the system hang tightly because of this, provided that it is not used?

Depending on the system settings, and on which OS.
For example, in Windows 8 and older, all service functions are performed automatically when the system is idle.
For example, you left the computer and do not work for 15 minutes, and the system automatically starts defragmenting, or indexing the hard disk.
In addition, shadow copying, etc. can be configured on the disk.

Disk accesses can be monitored using Sysinternals utilities (you can get it on the microsoft website), there is diskmon.
Bad smart - it's time to get rid of the disk until it finally died along with all the information.
Because Since this is not a system drive, then accessing it is unlikely to cause a BSOD and a dead hang. Brakes will be, but passing.
