How not to download all font formats, but only one suitable for the browser?

Hello. Could you suggest an API or some method by which you can hook the desired font format from a bunch of others and load it as more suitable for the browser? Thank you.

CSS and @font-face. Browsers are now smart enough to figure out on their own what exactly needs to be loaded from the entire list of src: url(...) .
