How much RAM do you need to update windows 7 (without using swap file)?
In general, as we know very well, windows consumes a lot of resources when updating.
And because of this, I had a question how much RAM should be installed so that windows does not use the swap file and does not slow down hard?

Windows always uses swap, even when 16GB and 3 of them are occupied, it will definitely swap 500MB.
You can only turn it off forcibly, but 8 GB will not be enough. C did this, we take 16GB of ram, make a 3GB ramdisk and assign a swap file to it.
Depends on the specific update.
How many will ask for as much as you need.
It's impossible to predict.
RAM is never too much. Approximately if you read something like this, how much your paging file is inflated, put that much RAM, but Win will still grab anything).
As they rightly said, there is never a lot of RAM.
The fact is that not only Windows eats memory. if you run chrome with a bunch of sites (with pictures), three photoshops, some kind of eclipse / netbins, an office with a bunch of files, a virtual box on virtualbox (or even two) during the update ... you will have everything swapped with 18 gigabytes .
why you can’t disable pagefile completely

>>Record information about the state of the system in case of a system crashes
It is not very critical in the case of a home computer, but it can be useful in solving “why bsod” problems and the like.
To keep the pagefile on a ramdisk - in the light of the above concept, I would also think about whether it is necessary. It's better to turn it off altogether. It is vitally necessary only (see the end of the article at the link).
and yes, SyavaSyava is accurate in analyzing your solution to the problem.
