How much PCQ is needed?

Mikrotik has its own proprietary queuing QoS technology - PCQ https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Queue#PCQ . It is very convenient for her to distribute traffic. The question is, how to live without it and solve the same problem by means of trivial network technologies?

  1. From the point of view of common sense, this should not be done on a single network device, at least in an office network on equipment like SOHO. How many users will it pull out? How much will the performance drop with complex rules?
  2. Usually this is achieved by installing a proxy server and accessing users to the Internet through it.
  3. If you still need to do just that on the gateway, there is ISG technology. It includes a number of techniques that are called differently by different manufacturers. But this is already operator technology.
