Asterisk
Maxim, 2013-12-11 15:35:07

How much does Asterisk load the system?

It is planned to launch a Call center of 6 operators and 4 incoming channels. What will be the requirements for the bandwidth of the channel at maximum load?
And is it possible to place this solution on VDS, again, what is the minimum in terms of CPU and RAM and the number of cores?

I understand that we are not flying into space, but still, I want it to work stably and without failures.
If you have any advice on VDS hosting, I'll be happy to hear it.

The requirements are minimal: some stationary Atom D2800 and 4GB of RAM are enough for you.

One voice stream = <50 kilobits per second.
That is, high bandwidth is not required from the channel.
But it must be reliable.
And if Asterisk works in VDS, then the channel to VDS must also be reliable, otherwise the sound will lag.
But it’s better to first run it in your virtual machine, set it up, and only after that migrate it to the hosting.

the main resources will be spent on recoding the signal if they are different from the caller to the called subscriber through the sip provider and the number of simultaneous calls. You, probably, will have to keep someone in the queue, or not?
you can calculate the bandwidth yourself here www.bandcalc.com/ru channel width depends on codecs. Codecs bring back the issue of transcoding

Yes, the queue is planned with music and other goodies.

We use VDS for a small project, it raises up to 30 simultaneous calls.

But there is no transcoding, if you have it, then you'd better have a dedicated server.

It is better to find an operator that works on the g.711 alaw codec, and use it everywhere.
Then there will be no transcoding.
