How many providers are there in the US? Is it possible to change the provider without a proxy?

1. How many providers are there in the US?
2. Can I somehow change the transmission of data about my provider in the browser? To show AT&T instead of Verizon for example .. Without a proxy.
P.S.: I don’t understand Internet connections, I suspect that such data cannot be changed, but suddenly there is some possibility / software.

The provider is determined by the range of addresses allocated to the provider. Bands are allocated by the network regulator, in North America this is ARIN. Apparently, we will have to break the ARIN servers where this information is stored. And the information is stored for a reason, but as a basis for setting up routers, so that several states or even half of America will most likely remain without the Internet.
