Strange... After all, in Windows, by default, "Automatically select volume" and "Size at the choice of the system" are set, and this setting does not interfere with the work of programs in any way. In any case, I have not come across this.
Nevertheless, you are right about setting up the swap file, because there are several reasons for leaving the "system selection":
1. If your computer has 8 gigabytes of RAM or more, you can turn off the swap altogether, thus saving disk space. True, the system will importunately whine to return it, and will return it on occasion. So put some minimum value.
2. Some programs (according to rumors, databases) require a swap file even with a large amount of RAM. Again, give them at least some.
3. If your swap is located on a hard disk drive (HDD), then it is extremely useful to put the same numbers in the "initial" and "maximum" swap sizes. If they are different (especially if they are very different), then when using the swap file, it stretches and shrinks like an accordion, which is why it fragments over time, i.e. breaks into small pieces. System access to a fragmented swap file is much slower than when it is single. Well, for SSD all this does not matter.

I have 0mb. Works if a lot of programs are not open.
