How long does it take to become a graphic designer and what should you study?

Dear friends, a huge request to answer the points.
I'm thinking about becoming a graphic designer.
1) How long does it take to master this profession?
2) What should be read, studied, what should be familiarized with? It is advisable to list recommended good books, articles, websites, educational videos, youtube channels, etc.
3) What skills, abilities and qualities do you need to have in order to work in this profession?
I apologize if the question is banal, but I think there are many knowledgeable people here who understand this.

And life is not enough. But what would be, at least a specialist - a year and a half, maybe two. It all depends on you and your desire.
I can't advise much from the literature, but from the video material:
TastyTuts
EvanEckard
Søren Clausen
Of these 3 channels, TastyTuts is the favorite - as they focus more on programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator , which is what a graphic designer needs.
Well, a site where there are a lot of tutorials in an article form: abduzeedo.com
Skills will come with training, but for myself I will say that you need to be diligent and patient. Not all twist at once :-)
And I also want to add that without English, nowhere. I wish you good luck with your studies :-)

I am self-taught, but I took CorelDraw as a basis, took a logo from the Internet, and tried to draw, every day 1 - 2 pieces, after 2 months I was not bad at it, got a job in an advertising production company, and there I already caught up with Photoshop and illustrator.
In general, I advise you to learn not Corel but illustrator. Well, at least now it’s difficult for me to work with him, since I studied Corel, but again, depending on what goals you need it for.

You need to learn illustrator. They seem to be similar to Corel, but it’s problematic to rebuild later. And more and more often, customers want source files in adobe format. Look here, you will find suitable information on illustrator shl.su/EI7
