How is web frontend used in android app design?

I heard somewhere that when developing mobile applications for android, you can use the web. What is it like? Maybe? I'm not familiar with android development. But if I start android development, then my abilities in the frontend would come in handy.

Android has a WebView component, a complete browser engine that allows you to embed web pages in your application. And, yes - through it you can make an application as a web front-end (with a little binding in Java).
