How is this even possible (ddr notebook)?

I'm trying to rearrange the memory in the laptop:
I put 2 - it writes installed 2 available 1.48
I put 4 - it writes installed 4 available 2.74
well, I think it's logical that 6 is available 4.00 by progression
I put 6 - it writes installed 6 available 2.74
Can anyone explain that going on here?
It turns out that if I put in a petabyte, 2.74 will still be available.
I will add here, I forgot
hp pavilion g6
win 7 x32
I look at the memory size in the System window
In the BIOS I don’t know how to look, and I don’t know what needs to be changed to correct the situation.

what OS is it worth? 32-bit? Try to put win 7 x64 - should help.

@Spetros

In your case, part of the memory is "eats off" for video memory.
In the other two cases, in addition to the above, the limitations of a 32-bit desktop OS (win 7 x32) appear: it can have a maximum of 4 GB, but some of them are reserved for device resources and are not available to applications.

x64 will solve almost all problems. Part of the RAM goes to the equipment, maybe something else is given to the video card (you can often tweak the amount of RAM for video in the BIOS).
